Are there new ways to talk about being unwell? Perhaps there are. I hope there are.

I was thinking about how being sick helps you to think more about what feels good, what brings comfort or energy, what makes us lighter when things feel less than airy.

Perhaps we could make a list?

A LIST OF LIGHTENING THINGS

A hot bowl of soup.

A bee bathing in a powdery flower.

A blanket of sunshine.

A chittering bird chorus.

Soft pillows, stacked up.

Steam brimming from a rosy tea cup.

The thick scent of eucalyptus.

Long stitches twined through a quilt.

Warm, easy limbs.

Cat whiskers, puppy snouts.

Familiar characters, watched over and again.

Dew drops glistening shifting crystals.

A sizzling pot full of promise.

The blues of the sea.

A beckoning book stack.

Toes brushing against fresh sheets.
