What would your ideal morning routine be?
Because I’ve just moved house (and states … again!) I don’t really have a routine yet. I am still finding my way around, trying to acquire furniture (all my books are still in boxes!), working my way through new breakfast options and generally trying to locate what feels best in a very jumbled landscape.
That said, a new place is always an opportunity for a fresh start, I think.
So that’s got me thinking about what I would most like for myself, amidst the things I must do. Because of course there are things that are non-negotiable. Feeding pets, study, making money, feeding self, tidying, life admin, feeding others etc.
It’s taken over a month to get to this point, which I think is pretty standard when you consider that I moved and then it was Christmas and New Year’s and blah blah blah. Today is the first time I’ve sat myself down and thought “How do I want my mornings to go, ideally?”
I am not sure of the answer, but I know it involves a nourishing easy breakfast, lots of tea, some plant watering, some listening to good stuff, some yoga that’s appropriate for ME/CFS and some writing things down.
I am not the sort of person to try and get heaps of stuff done first thing (anymore!) I’m quite the non-trepreneur. These days I am the sort of person who tries to balance how I feel with what I want to and must do.
If I’m being completely honest I have no idea what I’m doing now that the caring for other people stuff is not so much on the agenda (due to the other people being grown-up!) I’m a bit up in the air … but in a good way. Floating rather than drifting away, if that makes sense.
So I figured you could help me. I figured you would have some good ideas on things that make the day okay in these strange times. I figured I should ask you about those things.
What do you like to do in the mornings to set yourself up for an okay day?
And what do you do because you know it’s good for you?
And what do you HAVE to do?

I needed this post today. I am about to move from a rental into my very own home, and want to build a morning routine. I'm loving reading the comments and getting some nice ideas 😊
I'm trying to read more so I open the curtains and get back into in bed and read for about 20 mins. Wait for the kids to come in for a morning hug. Then I make my bed and put on some gentle music. I drink some warm lemon water, and sometimes some herbs. Ideally I have a stretch but at the very least, bend down and touch my toes and hang there for a few moments. I feel like it I try to pack more in I will feel overwhelmed and then I won't do any of it! I did a liver cleanse recently and really enjoyed doing dry brushing before my morning shower, thats a keeper!
So this is aspirational! Work in progress...
